Liberated collaborations

Whilst not a big fan of floral prints, over the years, I have come to have an appreciation for them . The reason being, this collaborating era that we find ourselves in, which allows different artistic worlds to collide, re-interpret floral prints and birth amazing masterpieces. How fun is it that Artists and photographers, are no longer confined to galleries, and private collections – , that Street-wear meets couture, that there is an alchemy of Architecture and fashion, that lifestyle…

Bestivals

Each year the festivals come around, I watch them on television and I’m totally blown away by the music, stage performances and the atmosphere, wishing I was there. I  promise myself to book tickets for the following year. I call up a few friends making a path with them to go the following summer, to camp out for a few days under the English weather!, to have a wet wipe shower, endure the toilets, mud… and the list goes on.…

For the love of Stationery….

One of the things I enjoy about London, especially, when the weather starts to warm up – is the never ending celebrations of our numerous hobbies and indulgences. A few weeks ago, it was London Hat week, then we had National Record week, and now, it’s National Stationery week!! Hooray for me! Those who know me well, will be aware that I am a sucker for a notebook. I get pleasure from looking at them, buying them, and being gifted…

Swedish Revolution

I recall wearing wooden clogs as a child. So did my sister and a few friends. The clunky sound they made would echo as we walked around, and we would flippantly flip them off to the side, whilst playing, as they were so robust. I was always so proud of them, as I thought they were cool, and gave me a height advantage at the time. A while ago, I rediscovered the clogs, but with a completely new take on…

Hats anyone? Meet Hennumi Millinery

Coco Channel – “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” – echoed by Hennumi As we are in the throws of London Hat week, I thought it would be fun, to catch up with a London Based Milliner –  Hennumi by Tosin Trim –  I popped down to Tosin’s studio to nose around and have a banter. Like me, she is a lover of hats, and believes, they do not need to be worn only on special occasions.…

All wrapped up in a bow.

I  favor the androgynous look, so possess quite a few ties, bow ties, tie pins, ectera.. in my drawer. I would normally wear them with my shirts, which of late, I really haven’t been wearing as much, and I thought it was a shame to have so many ties, just lying around. Then it dawned on me that I could wear them with dresses and tops, and that’s when the fun and games began.…

Experimenting with nature.

There’s something about the grains in wood, the texture, and the smell, that just does it for me. I like the way it looks, the variation in the colours, and the strength of it. If I had to pick a material to work with, it will be this, the oldest building material in the world. It’s renewable like any crop, and has the ability to absorb carbon dioxide during growth and even after it’s been turned into lumber.Hooray!…

180°

I often find my head turning, a few seconds after a person has walked past me in the streets. Especially if I like their style, to see if there is a pleasant surprise to the rear of the outfit.  I guess it’s a bit like, extra footage after the credits to a film in the cinema, as my reward for waiting. It does make me smile to see detailing on the back, whether it be intentional or just the way…
